How It Works

Surface Refurbishment.
Directly On The Yaw Ring.

Yaw sliding surfaces get worn or damaged - and exchanging the yaw ring is expensive and time consuming. Our mobile grinding machine refurbishes the surface on site, with the ring where it stands.

Built for the nacelle

  • Total equipment weight below 100 kg, no single piece over 50 kg - carried up and assembled uptower
  • Can cut both sides of the disc
  • Runs on standard 400V 16A power, with feed rate at normal yaw speed

Why refurbish instead of exchange

No disassembly of the turbine, no cranes, no waiting on crane or spare part availability - and no dependence on weather windows. The surface is restored with reduced downtime and less coordination than a yaw ring exchange.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can a worn yaw sliding surface be repaired without exchanging the yaw ring?

Yes. A mobile grinding machine refurbishes the sliding surface on site, avoiding the expensive and time-consuming yaw ring exchange.

How does the equipment get into the nacelle?

The machine weighs below 100 kg in total and no single piece exceeds 50 kg, so it is carried up and assembled in the nacelle. It runs on standard 400V 16A power.

Can both sides of the disc be machined?

Yes. The machine can cut both sides of the disc, with the feed rate following normal yaw speed.
