How It Works

Flat again.
Right where it stands.

A machine planes warps or wears affects every part your press produces. We restore the surface to its original flatness on site using our portable gantry milling machine. No disassembly. No transport. Minimal downtime.

The method

Our gantry mill is installed directly in the press and machines the surface back to precise flatness. The press structure, columns and hydraulic system remain untouched - only the worn surface is restored.

Designed for on-site machining

  • Every job starts with an assessment of the machine plane structure, columns and dimensions, available access and overhead clearance to ensure safe and efficient installation of the equipment
  • Suitable for molding presses, hydraulic presses and press frames across heavy industry

Why choose on-site machining?

  • Removing a machine plane from a large press is a major task, involving extensive disassembly, heavy lifting and transport to a machine shop. On-site machining eliminates all of that
  • We have successfully restored machine planes on several large hydraulic presses. Send us the machine plane structure, columns and dimensions and a few photos, and we will evaluate whether your press is suitable for on-site machining

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can you machine a press platen without disassembling the press?

Yes - that is the point of on-site machining. Our portal mill sets up on the press and machines the platen in place. We have done this on several molding and hydraulic presses.

How do you handle limited space around the platen?

Access is the first thing we check. Send the platen dimensions and the free height when the press is open, and our engineers assess whether the portal mill fits before anything is mobilized.

What presses can you machine on-site?

Molding presses, hydraulic presses and press frames across heavy industry. If in doubt, send photos and dimensions and we will respond with an assessment and indicative quote within one working day.

How accurate is the machined surface?

The platen is machined to the agreed specification, and the work is carried out under ISO 9001 certification.
